SPEAKING FESTIVAL 2021
Preparation for this year’s Speaking Festival is underway! Students have been learning their pieces in their drama lessons each week with Mrs Holzheimer (P-2) and Mrs Rosier (Yr 3-6). The year 4 and 6 students completed drama lessons last semester with Mrs Rosier, and those students who made it through to semi-finals will continue rehearsing on Wednesdays at lunch time. Prep students will also be working towards a group performance to share with you at the end of term (more details to come).
A copy of the pieces being learnt have been provided to students. Please encourage your child to continue working on their performance at home.
The Speaking Festival is an annual, whole school event which is a culmination of class work where children from P-6 are given the opportunity to develop their performance skills through poems and speaking pieces.
Below is a timeline for our performances:
Week 6 - Students in years 1, 2, 3 and 5 should be ready to perform their piece in drama lessons. (Years 4 and 6 have already done this last semester). This will form a major part of their drama assessment mark.
Week 9 – SEMI FINALS COMP Years 1-6 in drama lessons. These students will be notified by the end of week 8.
Week 10 – Mon 13th Sept SPEAKING FESTIVAL (FINALS). Keep an eye out for more information to follow.
