Communicate as both a Learner and Global Citizen
Fortunately at Lourdes, we have a team of dedicated teachers who volunteer their time outside their required hours to collaboratively share ideas and learn together, to not only impact their own professional growth and teaching, but also impact the learning of our students. We not only have year level teaching teams who meet in their non-contact time whilst students are at Specialist lessons, but we also have a Teaching & Learning Team and a Tech Team with different teachers who meet after school at different times throughout the term. Together as a team we collectively design ways to move teaching and learning forward in positive ways to support a culture of learning and thinking across the school.
At our last Teaching & Learning Team meeting, teachers thought of ways to engage our students in the Lourdes’ traits of a learner and global citizen who are ‘CALLed to Think.’ The C in our ‘CALLed to Think’ acronym stands for Communicate. For the remainder of this term, each class will focus on the traits of learner and global citizen who Communicates. Awards may emphasise aspects of this element and year level or class meetings may have this as a focus for discussion. You may even hear Mr Golightly or myself talk about this at assembly. For Term Three, the focus will turn to ‘Act’ for the first half and ‘Look’ for the second half of the term.’
In a previous newsletter, I have written about what it means to Communicate here at Lourdes which you can read about here. https://www.ololtwb.catholic.edu.au/newsletter/article/69?skin=1
Below is a copy of the Communicate as both a Learner and a Global Citizen poster which you may want to print and display in your home to be used as a talking point and as a reminder for your child to think how they can demonstrate these traits. If you would like more information, please talk to your child’s teacher or come and see me.
Thanks for reading.
