Dear Families,

Thank you for an incredibly positive start to the 2025 school year. This year we began with 460 students at Lourdes. Our classrooms and learning spaces are full of engagement and connection. This is a testament to our teachers here at OLOL, but also to the preparation and organisation from home, to set your child/ren up for a day of learning. Thank you.

This term has provided our students and families with many wonderful opportunities. Some of the highlights have been:

• Swimming lessons (Years 1-6)

• Friday interschool sport (Years 5 and 6)

• Year 6 Leadership Badge assembly
• CyberSafety Solutions workshop for students and our community

P&F Thank You
Thank you to the P&F for the Welcome BBQ and Disco, along with the organisation of a very successful race day. I know work has already begun behind the scenes for our Term 2 events. The time and passion you bring to our school, is very much valued and appreciated. Thank you also for ensuring we have a uniform shop on site!

Winter Uniform
Students will begin to wear the winter uniform from Monday May 12 (Week 4). Please refer to our Uniform Policy when purchasing items.

School Fees
Thank you to the families who have paid their Term 1 school fees or have a plan in place to pay for these across the 2025 Academic year. If you need support in the paying of fees, please contact the school office to speak with our finance officer.

Holiday Office Hours
The office hours during the holiday period are 9.00am – 2.30pm.

8a Ascot St Update
During the school holidays, turf will be laid (weather permitting) and the oval will be prepared for use next term. The students have managed the changed place space incredibly well, but we all can’t wait to have the oval in use again.

Term 2
A reminder that Term 2 begins on Wednesday April 23.  Monday is a public holiday, and Tuesday is a pupil free day. This is a two-day school week, with Friday being ANZAC Day. You are welcome to join us in the hall for the ANZAC Day Ceremony at 2.15pm on Thursday April 24.

Staying Safe Over the Break
I encourage you to be mindful of the content children are exposed to when using devices. In Australia, the minimum age for social media account holders is 13. (This is being increased to 16 in December). This is in place to protect young children from harmful media, age-inappropriate restricted material and deceptive design features. No primary age children should have access to any social media. These include (but are not limited to Snapchat, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, Twitch, YouTube and Discord.) Children using their parents’ phones, can also be exposed to inappropriate material through google searches and YouTube clips. Keeping our children safe is incredibly important. If you need to provide your child with a mobile phone in their school bag, it must be handed into the office during every morning. This also includes smart watches etc. If you need to contact your child regarding pick up arrangements etc. this should be through the school office. Thank you for working with us, to keep all children at Lourdes safe.

School Captain Wrap Up
